International news from The Danish Ecological Council:
On behalf of The Danish Compliance Council (for Nature and Environment), The Ecological Council and three green organisations have sent a letter on July 4 2016 to the European Commission concerning the large nitrogen runoff from the explosion on the Fredericia harbour February 2016.
The organisations want to make the Commission aware of the fact that the runoff can cause severe nitrogen polution in the adjacent waterbodies in Denmark and Germany. The Commission must take this into account when discussion increased nitrogen emissions from agriculture in relation to the Danish agricultural policies, especially the new Agicultural Package, and implementation of the Water Framework Directive.
The letter has been signed by The Danish Society for Nature Conservation, The Danish Anglers Association, The Danish Ornithological Society and The Ecological Council. Other members of The Danish Compliance Council is Organic Denmark and WWF Denmark and Danish Outdoor Council are associated members.
